Banking & Insurance Banking & Insurance

Overview

The Human Resources Management strategy envisioned for Banking and Insurance is to attract a qualified, skilled and knowledgeable team, with good communication and leadership styles. Corporate culture and values are important, in line with creative and innovative procedures implementation.
The challenge in these two industries is to continuously acquire, train and retain trustworthy employees, responsible to thoroughly apply banking and insurance systems as well as internal procedures. Technology keeps advancing thus, the protection of personal data and sensitive information is a must. A continuous close cooperation between Human Resources Departments and Information Technology experts is needed now more than ever.
Training people is an integral part of your Organization's competitive advantage.

Having worked over the years with Banks and Insurance Companies, I have helped identify and resolve a number of challenges within teams and systems. This specific experience enables me to share a broader perspective with your Organization, in order to challenge potential outdated work practices and embrace greater organizational efficiency.

I encourage the Banking and Insurance industry to promote a culture of knowledge growth, skills building and leadership development. I share my expertise in order to improve specific situations and add value to your business. I am able to identify problems your Organization could be facing and either unable to recognize or too involved to realize it. As an external Consultant, I can see challenges from a different perspective.

The value of my advice combined with training will benefit your Organization and generate instant and progressive results, such as:

  • Promote conversations, discussion and collaboration in the workplace;
  • Improve communication skills, team integration and resilience;
  • Develop your people’s soft skills and engage them to go beyond their current potential;

  • Become a values-based Organization.

Success is not a spontaneous act. It cannot be limited to a business deal nor defined by a sustainable income. Remaining successful is a strategy. While your business is growing and you are seeking more results, there are always challenges pertaining to your Human Resources Management strategy and corporate culture.
Our businesses are run by people who are identified as the internal customer. If our internal customers are not engaged with passion and commitment, how do we plan to retain our external customers?

CFO asks CEO: “What happens if we invest in developing our people and then they leave us?”
CEO: “What happens if we don’t, and they stay?”

The above dialogue has been circulating for some time, to emphasize the value of training. Continuous learning and acquiring skills impact on organizations’ bottom line. Sharing knowledge with people around you and developing them, enable you to take on more responsibilities and challenges, so you can make a difference.
Along the same lines, here is one of my favourites, as quoted by Zig Ziglar: “The only thing worse than training employees and losing them is not training them and keeping them”.

Training is about planning, designing, delivering the required learning and assessing the results. It can be done in-house and kept in your Organization, by training your trainers, who in turn regularly transfer knowledge to their colleagues. Another training solution is the open programmes that Maravilhosa provides, in which knowledge and different experiences are shared among participants from various organizations.

Whatever you decide, make sure you never stop learning and developing your people. Acquiring skills and experience will strengthen wisdom in crucial times and boost self confidence. It helps you grow and embrace new opportunities and challenges.
Don’t stop at your current limitations! Because when you stretch your limits by learning, you will achieve more than you ever thought possible!

Cultural Transformation Tools® or CTT

View herein my CTT Practitioner Diploma

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything” – George Bernard Shaw

Engaged and inspired by culture throughout my experience, I became a CTT Practitioner in 2015, accredited to interpret and use the CTT Models and Tools. As a Member of the global CTT Community network, I share experiences and discuss case studies with my fellow Change and Transformational Agents around the world.
This is a great opportunity for you to partner with a Certified Consultant who will guide you throughout your Cultural Transformation journey.

WHAT IS CTT?

Created by Richard Barrett, an internationally recognized Author, Consultant and keynote Speaker on Corporate Culture and Values-Based Leadership, the Cultural Transformation Tools® (CTT) have been used to map the values of thousands of organizations and leaders in over 90 countries in their transformational journeys.
Measurement matters and what gets measured gets managed and done. The Cultural Transformation Tools® are powerful metrics that enable Leaders to actively measure and manage the culture of their teams, leaders and the Organization as a whole. This is one of the most detailed and comprehensive cultural diagnostics and values assessment instruments available.

WHY VALUES ARE IMPORTANT?

Each person is driven consciously or unconsciously by its own set of values, thus, our decisions and emotional drivers reflect our values. “Individuals express their values through their personal behaviours; organizations express their values through their cultural behaviours” – Richard Barrett, Pleuntje van Meer.

WHY SHOULD YOUR ORGANIZATION INVEST IN CULTURE?

The reason is simple: by building a high-performance culture, “you will increase profits, attract and keep talented people, build brand loyalty and a resilient, sustainable company”.
Once you chose your values as an Organization, you embed these in every behaviour, policy, procedure, system and goals.  “The culture of an organization defines who you are and what you stand for. Vibrant cultures are values-driven, mission-focused and vision-guided”.

HOW DOES CULTURE IMPACT YOUR ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION?

Here is the critical equation:

  • Values and behaviours drive culture.
  • Culture drives employee fulfilment.
  • Employee fulfilment drives mission.
  • The Mission drives customer satisfaction.

Therefore and based on values mapping of over 2000 institutions in more than 60 countries, “Values-driven organizations are the most successful organizations on the planet” – Richard Barrett, Pleuntje van Meer.

You can view herein the Case Study of ING Banking Asia: "Understanding Employee Engagement through Values" - August 2012.
