As we get ready for the upcoming yearly performance evaluation and strategy meetings, it is important for us all to remember that better results come from constructive conversations, positive and encouraging words to those around us.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said: “I have no right to say or do anything that diminishes a man in his own eyes. What matters is not what I think of him but what he thinks of himself. Hurting a man in his dignity is a crime.”
When we ask better questions, carefully listen to others’ perceptions and wholeheartedly appreciate efforts, we can come closer to inspiring our people to break their limits.
Let us adapt our workplaces to build people’s confidence, talent and enthusiasm, where other institutions or life circumstances have previously been unsuccessful.
