THE NEW YEAR DOES NOT BRING DEDICATION, YOU DO
We often say it, that we will change bad habits on specific dates: “It’s my new year’s resolutions”, and “I start on Monday”, or “I will change my habits after the festive season”, etc.
We want to believe that comes the new year, we will quickly adhere to the ‘thought’ of change.
And comes Monday, we will immediately switch off unhealthy habits.
And after the holidays, we will instantly unlearn bad behaviors.
In reality, we think (and hope) that’s what it takes to be determined and committed to change.
However, it is not the dates, nor the seasons, that guarantee the consistency of your efforts.
In other words, it is not the 1st of January that will make you instantly disciplined.
It is not Monday that will unlock your commitment.
Setting a time to start is fantastic, but it is not the new year, nor the new week, that will give you purpose.
You will go through your change journey, and commit to it, when you are ready. When you have decided that you will no longer postpone or find excuses.
And only then, the 1st of January will be effective, or Monday, or the day after the holidays.
Only then, you are able to continuously develop yourself, to challenge your excuses, and to push your boundaries.
Only then, you can be disciplined all through the new year, every season, and every week. And once you embraced the change journey, you can bounce back after a break (your holidays), or unexpected situations.
2023 is almost here. Your dedication will make it a great year.
